WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT AND DISPOSAL WORKS AT MUNICIPALITY DIKAIOS – KOS ISLAND

The Wastewater Treatment Plant and the Disposal works at the Municipality on the island of Kos were constructed for the first phase of the project (20 years) with the exception of pre-treatment and decontamination facilities that were constructed to meet the needs of B Phase (40 years).

The facility receives municipal sewage from the municipal sewer network as well as from the septic tanks and achieves high levels of purification, combined with effective decontamination, in order to drastically reduce the potential number of coliforms.

The final disposal of the treated wastewater is carried out at sea, through a 1.000 m long submarine and a 20 m deep diffuser. Capacity (initial) 6.042 m3 / day (final) 8.503 m3 / day.

Served population: 35,000 inhabitants.
