J&P-AVAX renovated Semiramis Hotel in the Northern Athens suburbs, transforming its belle-epoch style into Greece’s first design hotel

Location

Semiramis Hotel is situated in Kefalari, in the Northern suburbs of Athens, at a central yet quiet district just across a square and overlooking a park. It is within 5 minutes walk from the Kifisia cosmopolitan commercial centre and only a 10 minute drive from the financial and business district of Marousi. The Athens airport is accessible in 15-20 minutes using the Attica Ring Road, while the historic and commercial centre of Athens is around 40 minutes away, by private car, bus or metro.

Inspiration & Design

Semiramis Hotel is Greece’s first design hotel, carrying the signature of internationally acclaimed industrial designer Karim Rashid. It constitutes a complete alternative for your stay in Athens, offering a unique balance between functionality and aesthetics –an original spot for art and design fully equipped to meet the needs of modern travelers. Particular emphasis has been placed on the functional shape of all spaces and items on display and use –furniture and decorative artifacts of contemporary art form designed by the famous designer, elevating the hotel to model 21st century status. The minimal spirit of the hotel is enhanced by the dominant white colour which maintains a fine balance with a pale palette of pink, green, orange and yellow. Those colours bode well with the broad use of original materials, such as glass, metal, ceramic tiles and rubber to create an ambient mood of vibrancy and positive energy. The sides of the building are made of Greek and Italian materials, with the impressive main entrance being a coloured glass chamber leading to the lobby.

Guest Rooms

Semiramis Hotel has 52 guest rooms, including 4 penthouse suites and 6 poolside bungalows. Of those rooms, 18 have a poolside view and 24 face towards the adjacent park. All baths and wardrobes are made of sandblasted glass, offering a unique sense of renewal of the surrounding room. All rooms are equipped with a full gamut of high tech facilities, including cable and satellite TV, 25-inch TV screens (suites and bungalows sport 42-inch plasma projectors), stereo audio systems fitted with CD player and wireless headphones, fast internet access and automated room service, such as HVAC, digital locks, LED signage displaying messages like “do not disturb” and “privacy” across the outside of the room door at the touch of a button. All guest rooms are also fitted with mini bar, electronic safe box, full bath equipment, hair drier, bath robe etc.

Restaurant-Bar

The hotel restaurant serves breakfast and a la carte dinner throughout the day, either inside or outside the atrium. The restaurant and the bar stretch on two levels and are decorated with unique artifacts and furniture, exclusively by Karim Rashid. The restaurant offers a variety of tastes from the Meditteranean cousine, fusing contemporary Greek delicacies with popular recipes from around the world. The relaxing mood is ideally enhanced by the music and cocktails from the bar, creating a fine spot of entertainment throughout the day and into the night.

Recreation Areas

The hotel has an exterior, heated pool with an ergonomic curving design, offering moments of private relaxation. The bar is open throughout the day serving drinks and light snacks by the pool. The hotel also has a fully equipped gym near the pool, its facilities including private coaching, massage, yoga & shiatsu and beauty therapy.

Other Facilities – Art Exhibition Area

Semiramis Hotel has a 40-space car park, as well as an auditorium-shaped area capable of hosting 150 people for private parties, meetings and conventions, its two sides characterized by large glass surfaces. The hotel will also host the country’s first exhibition area for Karim Rashid’s works, as well as other exhibitions with varying themes from international art galleries and the private collection of Dakis Joannou for rotating six-month periods.
